What are the travel options from Melbourne Airport to the Melbourne CBD?
Skybus Express:
The SkyBus Melbourne City Express runs daily from 4am to 1am between Melbourne Airport and Melbourne city (Southern Cross Station), with stops conveniently located outside Terminals 1, 3 and 4. A big red bus is never far away, with departures every 10 minutes during peak times (7am and 7pm) and every 15 minutes outside peak times.
Tickets can be purchased:
- Online at skybus.com.au – tickets valid for 3 months
- Via e-kiosks at our kerbside stops
- With cash sales at Prosegur and Smart Carte baggage storage, located inside Terminal 2 Arrivals hall.
The SkyBus Peninsula Express also runs daily to between Melbourne Airport and St Kilda, Frankston and surrounding bayside suburbs.

Taxis:
Taxis are on hand to pick-up arriving passengers with taxi ranks located close to all Terminals. The Melbourne CBD is approximately a 30-minute fare from Melbourne Airport. Taxi ranks are located close all terminals. The Melbourne CBD is approximately a 30 minute fare from Melbourne Airport.
Estimate your fare here. For your safety you should not accept any offer of taxi services outside of the designated taxi ranks at Terminals 1, 2, and 4.
You can pre-book a taxi to pick you up from the airport. Pick-up will be at the north end of the Terminal 1, 2 & 3 Car Park (closest to Terminal 1). A Melbourne Airport access fee of $4.78 (inc GST) applies to all pick-ups from an airport taxi rank. The fee is included in the taxi fare, and there is no airport charge for drop-off.
What is the best way to get to Deakin University (Burwood) for the workshops?
The number 75 tram from the city stops right outside Deakin’s Burwood Corporate Centre, where the workshops will be held. The trip to and from the city takes ~1 hour and costs $5.50 with a Myki card. Other public transport options are available on the PTV website, and there are Ubers and Taxis available.
What is the best way to get to Monash University (Clayton) for the workshops?
By train:
Pakenham/Cranbourne line trains – Take the train to Huntingdale Station, then the 601, 630 or 900 bus to campus.
By bus:
601 bus is a direct shuttle to Huntingdale Station
630, 631, 703, 733, 737, 802/804/862, and 900 bus routes stop in the Bus Interchange (Monash University stop)
742 bus route stops on Research Way (Monash University/Research Way stop)
800 bus route stops on Princes Highway (Wellington Road stop)
Other public transport options are available on the PTV website, and there are Ubers and Taxis available.
How do I get to the conference dinner from the conference venue?
Trams between the conference venue and Taxi Kitchen at Federation Square are within the Free Tram Zone.
